Ugh, having food sensitivities can be a huge hassle. The good news is, it makes me extra creative in the kitchen, and these delicious creamy bars are no exception. Think creamy cookie dough atop a granola bar and that's pretty much what this is!

For a recent breakfast and snack idea, I whipped up a Maiah-safe raw healthy protein bar devoid of my many food allergies and sensitivities. And it was delicious! Whether or not you have a food allergy, you'll love this energizing recipe.

I love spirulina so much so that I could be its unofficial spokeswoman.  My friends and family as a result have been coerced into trying spirulina in everything from mashed potatoes to fudgy raw cacao bars.

It's very versatile, vibrantly green, and wonderfully good for you.  

The first time I rambled off a list of what I use in my kitchen to a good friend delving into the world of nutrition and healthy eating, she did a double take when I mentioned "spirulina" and asked me to repeat it slowly, and when I described the nutritionally dense algae superfood, she looked understandably dubious.  But then I got a text...

Be warned that these are pretty addictive.  Luckily, they are pretty healthy too so you won't feel too bad if you eat the whole batch in one day, not that I'd do that (hehe).  If you like the taste of spirulina, or want to supercharge them a little more, add 1 teaspoon spirulina.  You can also use any nut butter instead of seed butter if you'd like.

 

This make a great post-long run treat and it's nice because it won't sit heavy in your stomach yet the texture is taste is extremely satisfying.  Enjoy!
